Djerbahood & the heritage of Erriadh
Around Dar Ines — Midoun, island of Djerba
The village of Erriadh, minutes from central Djerba, is home to Djerbahood, an open-air street-art museum, and to the Ghriba synagogue. A concentrate of the island’s heritage and creativity.
Djerbahood, open-air street art
Since 2014, artists from around the world have covered Erriadh’s white walls with murals: the village has become an open-air gallery to explore on foot along its lanes.
It makes an ideal family walk: hunt for the hidden works, photograph the blue doors and painted façades, in a peaceful setting.
The Ghriba, pottery and craft
Erriadh is home to the Ghriba synagogue, one of the oldest in the world and a place of pilgrimage. In the south of the island, the village of Guellala keeps an age-old pottery tradition alive, to discover in its workshops.
These sites tell of Djerba’s diversity: its traditions, its craftsmanship and its way of life, between sea and palm groves.
