Discover Djerba
On the island of Djerba, in Midoun - south-east Tunisia
Dar Ines sits in Midoun, in the heart of the island of Djerba. The villa is quiet, set in the Djerbian countryside, yet only minutes from the beaches, the shops and the sights the island is known for. Here is what waits around you.
A step from the villa
Local shops and a bakery are 2 minutes away, Yetti beach 6 minutes, and the centre of Midoun 8 minutes by car. Enjoy the villa and its pool without ever being far from the essentials.
The Midoun market, on Fridays, is one of the island’s highlights: spices, pottery, fabrics and local produce in a lively setting.
The beaches
Djerba is known for its long, pale-sand beaches and calm water, perfect for families. The north-east coast holds the finest stretches, with water sports and beach clubs for those who want them.
Houmt Souk, the main town
About twenty minutes away, Houmt Souk gathers the medina, its covered souks, its cafés and its fishing harbour. Wander for crafts, jewellery and tables of fresh fish.
Art, crafts and heritage
In Erriadh, the village of Djerbahood is covered with murals by artists from around the world: an open-air walk through white lanes. Nearby, the Ghriba synagogue is among the oldest in the world.
In Guellala, in the south of the island, potters’ workshops keep an age-old craft alive. The island is also dotted with small white mosques and menzels, the traditional Djerbian farmsteads.
Nature
To the north, the Ras Rmel peninsula - "Flamingo Island" - offers a spit of sand and a lagoon where flamingos gather. A protected setting, best discovered early in the morning.
Getting here
Djerba-Zarzis International Airport (DJE) serves the island directly from Europe. By road, the Roman causeway of El Kantara links Djerba to the mainland. We send you the villa’s exact location a few days before your arrival.
